Beyond Access: Making the Break into Employment

“Beyond Access” was launched by An Taoiseach, Mr Bertie Ahern, and featured input from graduates with disabilities on their experience of accessing employment and explored three key areas - access to transport, access to the built environment and attitudinal barriers.
An Taoiseach Mr Bertie Ahern, who opened the conference, and the guest speakers included – Senator David Norris, George Hook, Niamh Breathnach and Pat Rabbitte, Leader of the Labour party. Mr. Pat Rabbitte T.D. discussed Access for All – the Democratic Charter for Dublin City Council and George Hook chaired a table quiz on access issues.
Afternoon workshops covered access to the built environment and access to transport. The newly appointed Taxi Ombudsman facilitated a workshop entitled ‘Access for All’ and the final session was chaired by Senator David Norris.
