On the 8th June 2007 President Mary
McAleese gave the inaugural lecture on “Disability and Contemporary Ireland” in the O’Reilly Hall in UCD.
President
McAleese gave a very informative and thought-provoking lecture on the issues which affect disabled people in contemporary Ireland, including the importance of gaining an education from an early age, moving onto third level and employment amongst graduates with disabilities.
The event was covered extensively by the national media.
