History and Background:
* GET AHEAD, originally known as the National Forum of Graduates with Disabilities (NFGD), was set up by AHEAD – Association for Higher Education Access and Disability in November 2003.
Objectives:
GET AHEAD's objectives are to:
• Research the employment levels of graduates with disabilities, the challenges that graduates with disabilities are facing, and how they compare with the situation in the other EU states.
• Ascertain and analyse trends on the employment of graduates with disabilities in the civil and public service, in semi-state companies and in the private sector and to lobby for improvements where necessary.
• Raise awareness among people with disabilities of the opportunities that are available to them to continue their education through to third level.
• Assist and advice AHEAD with its projects and programmes for prospective and current students with disabilities.
